these are the cooking with kids books that i have and i get lots from the library. Can anyone recommend any other really good ones?
did anyone else read these books as a child? A Wrinkle in Time, Moomins, Hannibal, Narnia, The Hobbit.
my mother is amazing at keeping things - so we get lovely retro hand-me-down clothes, shoes, wellies and toys. and the occasional box of books passed our way from our old bedrooms. here is a selection of my old books. Madeleine L'Engle was my favourite author with Lucy Maude Montgomery coming a close second. I even wrote my own novel which was basically a re-write of Anne of Green Gables - the characters just had different names. Who was your favourite childhood author?
i have just read this book and loved it. every woman should read this - if only for a good laugh and some impressive writing. anyone else like it?

ReplyDeletei know Caitlin Moran is amazing isn't she - such incredible natural talent! I loved The Secret Garden - can't wait to read it to my kids.
DeleteI loved the Chronicles of Narnia - sure I met someone once who said they could speak narnian... This week's gallery theme has reminded me how long it's been since I read a good book, so thank you for the tip! I'm off to Amazon to find Caitlin Moran x
ReplyDelete(btw we had the W the P cook book too and remember using it a lot - would be a lovely one to find if you can)

DeleteI loved Anne of Green Gables, What Katy Did, Little House on the Prairie. I went to see Swallows and Amazons at the theatre, another favourite, and told the intern at work (she's 21) and she hadn't heard of it, or of Anne of Green Gables. She said she only read Harry Potter growing up. I felt old...
ReplyDeleteoo that makes me feel old too. and she's 21?? wow... i feel really old! :)
DeleteIt was very nostalgic when I found the Hannibal book at your house this summer. I just love those. R and M loved it too. I wonder if I could find them now? Can you tell me the authors name please? Thanks. I love how conversational this post is : )
